Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste Pickup

The Village of Estero does not run its own trash service. Lee County Solid Waste manages garbage, recycling, yard waste and household hazardous waste for Estero, and the county lists Waste Pro as the hauler for ZIP code 33928. Estero moved to a single collection day each week for trash, recycling and yard waste, so look up your day by address.

Drop-Off Facilities

Paint, pool chemicals, batteries, electronics and fluorescent bulbs shouldn’t go in your regular trash. Take them to the Topaz Court facility.

Lee County Property Appraiser

The Lee County Property Appraiser (LEEPA) sets assessed values, manages exemptions such as homestead, and mails the TRIM (Truth in Millage) notices each August that show your proposed taxes.

Homestead basics: if you own your home and make it your permanent residence as of January 1, you can apply for an exemption that reduces your taxable value by up to about $50,000. Homestead also brings the Save Our Homes cap, which limits annual increases in your assessed value to 3%. Moving from another Florida home? Ask about portability, which can transfer some of your Save Our Homes savings.

Lee County Tax Collector and Clerk of Court

New residents often file a Declaration of Domicile with the Clerk’s Recording Department as part of establishing Florida residency. See our Moving to Estero FAQ for the full residency checklist.

Village of Estero Government

Note: many communities along east Corkscrew Road have Estero mailing addresses but are in unincorporated Lee County, where Lee County handles permits and code enforcement. Check your parcel on the Property Appraiser’s site to confirm.
